NOTICE of SUSPENSION HELD in ABEYANCE:

On September 4, 2013, a “Notice of Suspension” was issued to Abbyland Foods Inc., Establishment M1633, located at 508 East Linden St., Abbotsford, WI. This action was based on your failure to handle animals humanely. This letter confirms the verbal notification you were given on September 5, 2013, by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Des Moines District Office, that the suspension of the assignment of inspectors for slaughter operations at Abbyland Foods Inc., Establishment M1633, is now held in abeyance, pending verification by FSIS personnel.

This serves as official notification by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of our decision to withhold the marks of inspection and suspend the assignment of inspection program personnel at Abbyland Foods Inc. M1633 located at 508 East Linden St., Abbotsford, WI. This action is taken in accordance with the Rules of Practice, 9 CFR 500.3 (b), which indicates that FSIS may take a withholding action or impose a suspension without providing an establishment prior notification if it is handling or slaughtering animals inhumanely such as occurred at your establishment on September 4, 2013.
