Citation: At 1100 I conducted a labeling compliance check with SVMO In the retail area of the establishment we noticed two boxes of product in the display case, together containing several dozen chubs of ground beef and ground pork products. The product bore the establishment's mark of inspection. For all of the chubs examined there was no net weight recorded on the label. However, there was a blank line for this information on the pre-printed packaging. In the product storage freezer we also noticed another box of numerous chubs of ground product without the net weight printed on the packaging. [newline][newline]This is non-compliance with 9CFR 317.2(h) which requires that a statement of net quantity of contents appear on the principal display panel of retail containers. Mr. was informed of this non-compliance visually, orally and in writing with this NR. As always you have the right to appeal.
Regulation:
317.2(h)(1) The statement of net quantity of contents shall appear on the principal display panel of all containers to be sold at retail intact, in conspicuous and easily legible boldface print or type in distinct contrast to other matter on the container, and shall be declared in accordance with the provisions of this paragraph.
