Violation: 416.4(d)
Citation: At approximately 0945 hr. while rinsing my apron off at the hose next to the reprocessing station for fecal contaminated birds, I observed an employee dragging a barrel half full of birds and set it next to the reprocessing station. I asked the employee what was wrong with the birds and what he was going to do with them. The employee informed me they were fecal contaminated birds that were taken off at the house checking station and that he was told to rework them out off the barrel at the reprocess station. Ms. [redacted] was also standing there and she told me they were fecal birds to be reworked. The employee reworking the birds asked me, "isn't this the same thing we were told about yesterday."The day before there was a similar incident when the turkeys were being processed in the evisceration department. Two full barrels of turkeys were being saved to rework for fecal, feathers and ingesta, but I observed the employees reworking the contaminated product at the table used to do the 10 bird check, a hose was at the area to wash the turkeys. Ms. [redacted] told me they were fecal ,feathers and ingesta contaminated birds that were being reworked at the table, I call Mr. [redacted] Plant Manager to the department and explained to him his process was out of control. I explained to him he cannot stock pile contaminated fecal product in barrels. he agreed , and in my presence he explained to Ms. [redacted] QC, Mr. [redacted] Supervisor & Mr. [redacted] Department manager that it was unacceptable to pile contaminated product in barrels tanks or tables. He also told them if they found fecal contamination it must be washed immediately and not piled together. I informed Mr. [redacted] of the noncompliance . Mr. [redacted] informed me that it will not happen again. The birds were reworked. No further regulatory action was needed. The plant is not meeting 9 CFR 416.4(d).
