USDA Inspection Report: 19 May 2012
Code: 01D01
Violation: 416.2(b)(3)
Citation: On Saturday, May 19, 2012, at approximately 1210 hours, I observed the following non-compliance. While the establishment was in the operation of poultry slaughtering/processing, the rear door located in the live birds holding area was noted wide open, creating an entrance for unwanted pests; quite a few flies were seen flying in from outside. A regulatory control action was initiated with an U.S. Rejected Tag (#B38033324) applied to the affected area until corrective action could be performed. Evidence was immediately shown to the plant owner, Shen. This non-compliance is a violation of Regulation 9 CFR 416.2 (b)(3), which states "Walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, and other outside openings must be constructed and maintained to prevent entrance of vermin, such as flies, rats, and mice." Continued failure to meet the regulatory requirements would lead to further enforcement action.
Regulation:
416.2(b)(3) Walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, and other outside openings must be constructed and maintained to prevent the entrance of vermin, such as flies, rats, and mice.
