Violation: 416.1, 416.2(e)(2), 416.2(e)(3), 416.4(c)

Citation: At approximately 1340 hrs while observing plant operations, the following violation was observed. Fragrant soap bubbles and waste water from the laundry facility were observed draining through a white plastic pipe in the lower portion of the wall of the picker room, directly onto the floor of that room and into the drainage system designed to dispose of the picker waste water. At this time, the pickers were in use with product passing through them. No product was affected however this improper plumbing and disposal of a sanitizing solution constitutes an insanitary condition which is in violation of, but not limited to 9CFR 416.1, 416.4, 416.2(e)(2) and 416.2(e)(3). [redacted] was verbally informed of the findings and advised that an NR would be written. This document serves as written notification that your faiulre to comply with regulatory requirements could result in additional regulatory or administrative action.

Regulation:

416.1 Each official establishment must be operated and maintained in a manner sufficient to prevent the creation of insanitary conditions and to ensure that product is not adulterated.

416.2(e)(2) Properly convey sewage and liquid disposable waste from the establishment;

416.2(e)(3) Prevent adulteration of product, water supplies, equipment, and utensils and prevent the creation of insanitary conditions throughout the establishment;

416.4(c) Cleaning compounds, sanitizing agents, processing aids, and other chemicals used by an establishment must be safe and effective under the conditions of use. Such chemicals must be used, handled, and stored in a manner that will not adulterate product or create insanitary conditions. Documentation substantiating the safety of a chemicalís use in a food processing environment must be available to FSIS inspection program employees for review.
